Songs from the Valley

You Are Never Gone

You Are Never Gone

There are places our hearts never leave — sacred spaces where heaven touched earth in quiet, ordinary moments. For me, Lake Tahoe is one of those places.
It’s where I learned that the Lord’s presence is not bound by time or geography. Even when seasons change, He remains — constant, steady, and near.
This psalm was written in a season of remembering — of realizing that what is rooted in Him is never truly gone.

You are never gone.
You will always remain as a moment in time,
that captured my memories.
Now, I see you in my dreams.
I always find my way back to you.
You are never gone —
my snow-capped mountains and pearly sands.

To Be Found Is To Get Lost
The only way to find your soul was to get lost.
You are never gone.
The smell of the mountain air captures the soul.
Oh, how I wish I could put it in a bottle —
a scent that lingers even when miles away.

The secret part of the morning when the heavens open up with song,
greeting the day.
From spring filled with life, now gone —
to winter, when the world slows down to a whisper.

You are never gone —
Blankets of sugar crystals cover the ground.
You are never gone —
the years of sunsets reflecting the lake in the sky.
You are never gone.

Never Gone

Closing Reflection

Even in the seasons when things fade or change shape, His fingerprints remain.
The Lord has a way of weaving eternity into our earthly moments —
reminding us that what’s rooted in Him is never lost, only transformed.

About Songs in the Valley: Where I found Him

These are poems — psalms, really — written over the years through my walk with the Lord. For a long time, they lived quietly in the pages of my journals. I began sharing a few with close friends, and their encouragement stirred something in me: perhaps these words were meant to be shared.

Much of this writing was shaped by my years living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, in a small town called Incline Village, nestled near Lake Tahoe. A place of breathtaking beauty — 6,400 feet above sea level, home to about 9,000 souls. What once was a family vacation spot became my backyard: where I hiked, went to school, escaped, and found home.

It’s where I fell in love with my husband — and where my faith was forged in both mountain peaks and deep valleys.

These poems are my modern-day psalms — songs of the heart from the valleys and mountaintops of life. My hope is that as you read, you’ll find pieces of your own story woven between the lines, and perhaps a glimpse of the same faithful God who met me there.
