Rooted in Purpose: Bearing Digital Fruit
Bearing Digital Fruit
The interview
I recently had a thoughtful conversation with a nonprofit leader that left me reflecting on collaboration in a remote work environment, my current workflow, and opportunities to improve their website and social media presence. They asked me a few key questions:
How do I collaborate effectively while working remotely?
What does a typical day look like for me?
What changes would I suggest for your website and social channels?
After taking some time to think, research, and brainstorm, I wanted to share my full response. Going the extra mile is part of the way I serve, so I even created three sample social media posts tailored to their mission and audience.
My Current Work Day
A typical day for me involves a blend of project management, research—especially into nonprofit fundraising strategies—creating funnels, and finding new ways to streamline tasks like scheduling social media posts. It’s all about helping leaders focus on their mission while making sure the behind-the-scenes systems are running smoothly.
Collaboration That Cultivates Growth: How Nonprofits Can Strengthen Their Online Presence
One of my favorite parts of partnering with nonprofits is the collaboration — those creative conversations where ideas bloom into impact. Recently, I had the privilege of chatting with a nonprofit leader about teamwork and digital growth, and their question stuck with me:
“What changes would you make to our website and social media?”
It’s such a thoughtful question — because today, your online presence is often the first touchpoint for donors, volunteers, and community partners. With the right systems and strategy, it can also become a thriving place for connection and growth.
Website: Turning Visitors into Lifelong Supporters
One of the simplest yet most effective additions to a nonprofit website is a lead magnet — something like a newsletter sign-up or free resource pop-up.
This small change can help capture contact information for potential donors, volunteers, and community members. It’s a way to keep your audience “in the know” about upcoming events, stories, and opportunities to give.
From experience, I’ve seen how nurturing relationships through consistent updates can turn one-time donors into recurring supporters—and faithful givers into true advocates for your mission.
Social Media: Where Mission Meets Momentum
Social media is more than a platform—it’s a tool for meaningful engagement when used with intention.
Boost your nonprofit's effectiveness by identifying where your audience hangs out online. Do they prefer the social circles of Facebook, the stunning visuals on Instagram, the career-focused atmosphere of LinkedIn, the discussion-heavy environment of Reddit, or the quick, clever exchanges on Twitter? Understanding this is crucial—connect with them on their favorite platforms!
What they hope to achieve:
Awareness of your mission
Volunteer recruitment
Donor engagement and retention
Video content consistently performs best. Research shows: On Facebook and Instagram, video content performs best. A recent Park University study found:
🎥 89% of people have purchased after watching a video about a product or cause.
🌐 Websites with videos are 53x more likely to rank on Google’s first page.
📧 Including “video” in an email subject line can increase open rates by 19%.
And the good news? There are several free AI tools that make creating short, engaging videos easy and cost-effective.
SEO & Visibility: Helping Your Mission Be Found
Even the best content is only useful if your community can find it. Optimizing your website and social media with the right keywords ensures your mission appears in searches for your programs and services.
Start by identifying the search terms your community uses to find nonprofits in your region. Small refinements can help you reach broader audiences, attract more volunteers, and connect with new donors.
Final Encouragement
Whether your nonprofit is just beginning its digital journey or ready to take the next step, know that growth doesn’t happen overnight—but it does happen through collaboration, consistency, and care.
Sometimes, all it takes is a fresh set of eyes (and a heart that understands the mission) to help your message reach the people who need it most.

You don’t have to do everything to stay faithful.
You simply need to do what you were called to — and surround yourself with support that lets you flourish in that calling.
When you release the administrative load, you make room for fruit that lasts.
“Abide in Me, and you will bear much fruit.” — John 15:5
